✓ SQL Validator
Check SQL syntax with parenthesis balance, string literal, and keyword checks. Detects unterminated strings, unbalanced parentheses, and missing FROM clauses — all in your browser, no upload.
About the SQL Validator
This SQL validator runs entirely in your browser. Paste your SQL and click Validate to scan it for common syntax problems. The validator checks for balanced parentheses, unterminated string literals (single quotes), basic statement structure (SELECT requires a FROM, INSERT requires INTO and VALUES, etc.), and unknown leading keywords. Each problem is reported with its line number so you can jump straight to it.
What does it check?
- Parenthesis balance — every
(must have a matching). - String literals — single-quoted strings must be closed on the same line (multi-line strings are flagged as they are non-standard in most dialects).
- Statement structure —
SELECTneeds aFROMwhen selecting columns;INSERTneedsINTOandVALUESorSELECT;UPDATEneedsSET;DELETEneedsFROM. - Statement terminator — multiple statements should be separated by semicolons.
- Leading keyword — the first keyword of each statement should be a recognised SQL command.
How to use the validator
- Paste your SQL into the input box.
- Click Validate.
- Read the result panel — valid SQL reports success; problems list each issue with its line number.
- Fix the issues in your editor and re-validate.
Frequently asked questions
Does it connect to a database or run the query? No. This is a syntax-only validator. It never executes SQL and never connects to any database.
Which SQL dialect does it support? The checks are dialect-agnostic and cover common ANSI SQL patterns. Dialect-specific syntax (e.g. PL/SQL blocks, T-SQL batches) may be flagged.
Is my SQL uploaded? No. All validation happens locally in your browser.
